Early morning croissants

A sunny, windy Tuesday morning saw Miss P and I wandering over to Silo to squeeze in croissants, cherry jam, coffee and chat before work. Wandering through Telopea Park (and discussing the fact that, surely, that park could not be as dangerous in the night-time as it is frequently rumoured to be), I took the photo above to capture the early-morning shadows of the eucalypts and the gloss of their fallen leaves.

Meanwhile, a spate of recent openings nearby – and, perhaps, the sunnier weather – saw the Silo Bakery a little quieter than usual, leading to a welcome improvement in service and the general cheeriness of their staff. And while views on Silo coffee and breakfast food are deservedly mixed, anything they bake is wonderful, and there is something very satisfying about finishing breakfast and coffee with change for $10.
